Grow Medium¶
The grow medium provides physical support for plant roots and may assist with moisture retention. In hydroponics it is not a nutrient source — all nutrients come from the solution.
Options¶

Preparation¶
- Rockwool: Soak in pH-adjusted water (5.5) for 1 hour before use to neutralise alkalinity.
- Clay pebbles: Rinse thoroughly; soak overnight.
- Coco coir: Pre-wet; may need buffering for calcium and magnesium.
