Planting

Germination

  1. Place seeds in moistened grow cubes (use plain water, pH ~6.0 — not nutrient solution).
  2. Place cubes in a germination tray with a humidity dome.
  3. Keep warm (20–25 °C); use a seedling heat mat if needed.
  4. Check daily that cubes are moist; drain excess water from tray.
  5. Germination typically takes 3–7 days.

Nursery Phase

Once germinated, seedlings move to a nursery tray under light.

  • Begin dilute nutrient solution: ~¼ concentration (300–500 µS/cm EC).
  • Gradually increase light exposure.
  • Grow until first true leaves form (≈1–2 weeks).
  • Target: 5–7 cm tall before transplanting.

Transplanting

  • Break apart individual cubes and place one per channel hole.
  • Ensure the cube makes contact with the flowing solution or sits within the medium.
  • Inspect for stress signs in the first 24 h.

Staggered Schedule (Example — 6 channels)

A staggered planting cycle yields a steady harvest rather than one large flush.

Week Action
1 Germinate set A
2 Plant set A → channel 1; germinate set B
3 Plant set B → channel 2; germinate set C
Continue per channel
N+harvest period Harvest channel 1; replant

Specific timing depends on crop and channel count — TBD.
